The establishment of Tvilum Furniture Factory

In 1965, a small workshop in the old schoolhouse of Tvilum laid the foundation for what is now one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ready-to-assemble (RTA) furniture. Egon Kristiansen, a visionary entrepreneur, established Tvilum Furniture Factory with a clear ambition: to create high-quality, functional, and affordable furniture that could reach homes across Denmark – and eventually, the world.

From the start, Tvilum was built on the principles of traditional Danish craftsmanship, emphasizing durability, simplicity, and functionality. The company quickly gained a reputation for producing well-designed furniture at prices accessible to a wide range of consumers. This commitment to affordability without compromising on quality became a cornerstone of Tvilum’s philosophy.

From Local Workshop to Global Industry Leader
Over the decades, Tvilum evolved from a small local business into a global furniture powerhouse. The company embraced automation and efficient production methods, allowing it to scale operations while maintaining strict quality control. Growth was fueled by strategic partnerships with leading global retailers and the rising global demand for RTA furniture.

Tvilum’s commitment to sustainability has also played a key role in its success. The company prioritizes eco-friendly materials and production processes that reduce waste and minimize environmental impact – an approach that resonates with today’s increasingly conscientious consumers.

A Legacy That Continues to Grow
Today, Tvilum remains a leader in the global furniture industry, producing millions of furniture pieces each year. Its legacy is built on six decades of innovation, automated production, and a commitment to making stylish, functional furniture accessible to people around the world.
